West Monroe Fire Fighters drill on water supply operations 8-24-10
On Tuesday 08-24-10 the West Monroe firefighters went to Dutch Road and practiced water supply operations. Under the direction of Chief Russ Boughton and Assistant Chief Kevin Davis the firefighters worked with Engines 3311 and 3312 and used both dry hydrant and direct to the pond connections.

West Monroe Fire Fighters respond to a motor vehicle crash on State Route 49
On Monday August 2nd about 17:00 the West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on State Route 49. Rescue 3362, Engine 3312, Assistant Chief Kevin Davis(3302) and Chief Russ Boughton(3301) all responded along with 2 SOVAC ambulances. Two patients were extricated from their vehicles and transported to Syracuse hospitals. Units returned to service about 18:45
West Monroe Fire Fighters attend live fire training in Oswego.
On Tuesday July 20th the West Monroe Firefighters attended a live fire training session at the Oswego County Emergency Response Training Center in Oswego. The ERTC is operated by the Oswego County Fire Coordinators office. 18 firefighters from West Monroe and 5 from Constantia attended. The drill focused on interior fire fighting using the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus(SCBA) the firefighters use to protect their lungs from the heat and smoke. Training also focused on the use of the hand lines(hoses) the fire fighters use to extinguish the fire.

On Saturday June 26th 2010 the West Monroe Fire Department participated in the Constantia Field Day parade. Several firefighters marched as well as having apparatus Engine 3311 and Heavy Rescue 3362
West Monroe received a score of 98 and took second place without music and had received the "Most Members In Line" award

Construction on the Toad Harbor water district is getting under way. The fire department is looking forward to having an increased area of our district with fire hydrants.
West Monroe called to a minor motor vehicle accident on State Route 49 on 6-19-2010
On Saturday bout 10:30 AM West Monroe was dispatched to a reported Motor Vehicle Accident on St. Rt. 49 near Hayes Road. West Monroe Chief 3301, 3302, and 3303 all responded along with Heavy Rescue 3362, several fire police and an ambulance from SOVAC. The call ended up being a pickup truck off the road near Adrian Circle in the Constantia fire district. Constantia was activated and held in quarters as the incident was minor.
Congratulations to John Hinds on his retirement from the position of Oswego County Fire Coordinator. John held the position for 10 years and in his term has brought to life the Emergency Response Training Center(aka the fire school). John worked very well with the county legislators getting the training center ownership over to the county and then returning it in service.
Congratulations also to Don Forbes recently appointed Interim Fire Coordinator for Oswego County.
West Monroe responded Mutual Aid to Palermo
On Monday June 14th West Monroe responded with 9 personnel on heavy rescue 3362 to Palermo on a structure fire. Crews assisted in overhaul.
